Unfortunately fitbit s floor functionality does not recognize the incremental effort of climbing up.
Does fitbit zip track floors.
Your device uses changes in barometric pressure combined with the steps you take to calculate floors climbed.
I don t track the floors i just thought it curious that it counted 16 today when always before it 1 maybe 2.
Let s say that today in 2020 the trackers have evolved quite a bit so there still a need for the fitbit zip.
In fact floors do not count for anything floors do not carry any incremental caloric burn value it s just a statistic aimed at keeping people motivated.
Walking up a steep hill counts a standard flight of stairs works etc.
The fitbit zip is an economical fitness tracker.
Your device registers 1 floor when you climb about 10 feet or 3 meters.
I can also get floors in my jeep if i drive on a bumpy road.
A 10 foot increase equals one floor regardless of how many steps you take.

From the fitbit website.
The fitbit zip is one of the few clip on trackers that you going to find on the fitbit line up and is one of the first attempts on the fitness tracker world from the fitbit family and just like the fitbit one was first released in 2012.
Please note that fitbit devices that count floors have an altimeter sensor that can detect when you re going up or down in elevation.
You can clip fitbit zip to a belt waistband pocket or bra.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
As wtksk8r mentioned your device registers one floor when you climb about 10 feet at one time.
10 feet is an average between residential and commercial floor heights.
Make sure the fitbit zip display faces outward when clipped to your bra.
Your tracker registers a floor when it detects continuous motion combined with an elevation gain of about 10 feet.
Always use the silicone clip when clipping it to a bra or waistband as the plastic fitbit zip tracker is not meant to be worn in direct contact with the skin.
Your fitbit is an altimeter so things like barimetric pressure and wind can impact its count.
For comparison the fitbit one and withings pulse are both 99 95.
Fitbit devices do not count the elevation gains simulated from a stairmaster inclined treadmill or other stationary exercise.
