A common rule for displaying curtains properly says the curtains finished width should be at least 2 times the width of your window if not more sheers can be 3 times the window width to achieve a look of proper fullness. The track or pole should be 15 20cm above your window and 15 20cm either side. Our 28mm metal bay window curtain pole kits offer two size options. For example a common 1 5 8 inch grommet glides over a 1 3 8 inch diameter rod.

When a pole width falls in between the standard size widths 46 66 or 90 it depends on how full the curtains need to be. For ready made curtains the width of the pole track wants to be roughly the same size as one curtain. Have a steel tape measure ready and something to write all of your measurements down as you go along. Measure the length of the pole between the finials decorative ends.
